1892-1893
1892: General Electric Company is formed through the merger of Thomson-Houston Electric Company and Edison General Electric.
1893: Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston (CFTH) is established in Paris.
1966-1988
1966: CFTH merges with Hotchkiss-Brandt to form Thomson-Houston-Hotchkiss-Brandt (later renamed Thomson-Brandt).
1968: Thomson-Brandt’s electronics business merges with Compagnie Générale de Télégraphie Sans Fil (CSF) to create Thomson-CSF.
1982: Thomson-Brandt and Thomson-CSF are nationalized and merged to form Thomson SA.
1988: General Electric sells its consumer electronics division to Thomson to form Thomson Consumer Electronics.
1995-2010
1995: The French government splits Thomson Multimedia and Thomson-CSF, leading to privatization in 1999.
2000: Thomson-CSF becomes Thales; Thomson Multimedia buys Technicolor and expands into broadcast management.
2005: Major acquisitions, including Cirpack and Inventel; Part of the business is sold to TCL.
2010: The Infinity camcorder is discontinued; The Color Picture Tube manufacturing business is sold to Videocon.
2015-2021
2015: Technicolor acquired The Mill and the Set-Top Box and Cable Modem business, formerly known as Scientific Atlanta from Cisco.
2017: Technicolor acquires the Set-Top Box divisions from LG and Pioneer
2018: Sale of Patent Licensing business to InterDigital.
2021: Technicolor Creative Studios is launched; Technicolor Post-Production business is sold to Streamland Media.
2022-2024
2022: Technicolor announces the launch of two separately listed companies: Technicolor Creative Studios and Vantiva.
2024: Vantiva acquires CommScope’s Home Networks division, which traces its history back to 1950 with the formation of Jerrold Electronics, a pioneer in CATV, acquired by General Instrument (GI) in 1967:

– 2013: Motorola’s Mobility Home business becomes part of ARRIS Inc.
