The devastating surge in COVID-19 cases in India has overwhelmed the medical infrastructure there – with almost 400,000 new cases diagnosed each dayover the last week.
Colleagues and their families have been directly affected by this relentless second wave, and Technicolor is taking extra steps to ensure their health and safety, including expanding healthcare benefits; facilitating access to vaccines once available; and exploring additional means of support with local and regional resources.
Beyond that, Technicolor has been seeking ways to help the community at large in India.
“During my monthly town hall to employees last week, the outpouring of support for our colleagues was extensive, and many of them wanted to help,” said CEO Richard Moat. “After consultation on the immediate needs, we’ve decided to partner with Oxfam India, an NGO we’ve had a long-term relationship with, to provide immediate on-the-ground community support.”
Contributions to Oxfam India will support their COVID initiatives, and the urgent need to:
- Distribute PPE and safety kits
- Install equipment at government institutions (hospitals/health centers)
- Work with policymakers to ensure the COVID-19 vaccine is purchased at true cost prices
- Provide food to the most marginalized and vulnerable communities
- Provide direct cash transfers to the most marginalized households
- Impart skill-based, livelihood training for women and self-help groups to help them generate income
Dedicated links are set up for Technicolor by country, for those wishing to donate to Oxfam India and support the community during this devastating surge. Donations made via the links below will be matched by Technicolor, up to a total of €100,000.
“Our leadership in India continues to seek other ways to support the community, and for those wanting to help now, supporting Oxfam India can provide immediate relief,” concludes Moat.
*Citizens outside these countries can use the India link. Donations qualify for tax exemptions within the given country’s legal framework. Participation is completely voluntary.
